Defective Drug - Viagra
As seen on CBS Evening News and NBC’s The Today Show, Littlepage Booth represents several men who suffered vision loss or permanent blindness after taking Viagra. Mr. Jimmy Grant, a Littlepage Booth client, experienced blindness after using Viagra. His story was featured on CBS Evening News on May 26, 2005 in a story that first linked Viagra use and permanent blindness. In a recent study, US researchers describe seven patients who developed nonarteritic ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION), an eye ailment that can result in permanent vision loss, after taking Viagra (sildenafil) for erection difficulties. Pfizer has consistently refused to warn doctors and patients about Viagra’s ability to cause permanent vision loss. There is no information in the Viagra label or warnings about this serious potential side effect.
""For years, we've known that a number of men who take Viagra will experience short-term color changes in their vision and see things as green or blue," study co-author Dr. Howard D. Pomeranz, from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, said in a statement. However, it was only in the last few years that Dr. Pomeranz has been able to document the permanent vision loss from Viagra that he describes in his published articles. In all of Dr. Pomeranz’s patients, the initial symptoms were blurred vision and some degree of vision loss. In one patient, both eyes were affected, whereas in the remainder, just one was involved. Three patients had pre-existing eye problems that may have increased their risk of NAION. With the exception of one patient whose symptoms began 24 to 36 hours after using Viagra, the patients developed symptoms within 24 hours of use..
